Life is like a vehicle with wheels that are constantly in motion. There’s stuff in those wheels that collect other stuff.

For optimum performance the wheels need to be balanced so that they are in sync and as it propels you down your path or road or highway in life you will be less likely to become off balance; which in turn could affect your thinking and driving.

What’s the worst case scenario? You could veer off into someone else’s lane and cause a collision.

By now you have already chosen the type of vehicle you want to use for your travel (I chose an armoured vehicle that I named “The Beast”). This vehicle is the means to attaining your dream. The wheels and other functioning parts propel you forward and help you stay on track. Bear in mind that the journey never ends until it’s over.  Now it’s time to get balanced and moving towards those dreams.

The wheels have spokes. Each of these areas represent a part of your life i.e.:

Emotional, Mental, Physical, Psychological, Personal, Professional, Financial, Spiritual, Vocational and so on. Each of these areas need to be balanced because if you spend most of your time focusing on any one area the others will be neglected and before you know it you are out of alignment and BANG!

Take my situation for instance. A few years ago I was driving down a main street looking for the perfect parking spot which I found rather quickly. Happily I pulled into the spot, put my foot on the brakes and stopped. I proceeded to leave the car without putting it in park, turning off the engine and without taking my keys. As I was walking away I turned to look at the vehicle and that’s when I realized that it was still moving. I observed helplessly as it continued to move forward and wondered why this was so!? Parked in front of me was a Police car and my vehicle rear ended that car.

In total confusion I jumped back into my car, put it in park, turned off the engine, covered my face and waited for the familiar knock, knock on my window which came quickly.  I opened my eyes, looked at the officer and said, “Hi”. “What on earth do you think are you doing”? he asked in a stern voice.

In a quiet voice I said, “I’m sorry Officer, I was distracted”. This was my wake up call to re-balance, re-focus and get back on track.

My friends I was dealing with and focusing on an accumulation of stuff in my life at the time that seemed insurmountable!

I became distracted and out of alignment to the point of almost hurting myself and others.

For optimum performance, not only do you have to provide fuel for your engine, you also have to practice balancing your wheels of life frequently.  It can save your life and the life of others.
